Saddle Up for a Fun Breakfast with Kids in Riverside

Just returned from an old haunt,

Steak N Egg-Cetera
9265 W. Cermak Rd.
Riverside, IL 60546
(Located in a strip mall at Cermak and 17th St.)

This place is has a southwestern theme and great food. It is very clean and well decorated. The feature for kids is saddles attached to booster seats that are pulled right up to the table. On this visit, they even gave the kids straw sombreros to take home.

I've only eaten breakfast there, but they are open 24 hours. You can get American breakfasts, but they specialize in southwestern breakfast ingredients, including flour tortillas, fried tortilla shells, Texas pork chops, chorizo, chicken, steak, onions, peppers, etc. The pancakes are great - with a nice nutty, grainy flavor.

I enjoyed my chorizo, scrambled eggs, and pancakes, while my wife had a great chicken breakfast burrito. The kids had Mickey Mouse pancakes and French toast.

The specialty breakfasts run $6-13 dollars, but you get great ingredients, large helpings and good service. I think it's a good value - especially with the saddles and the hats. You can get a cheaper breakfast there too, but the speciality items are too good to pass up. They have a nice kids menu too.

We drive in from Naperville from time to time to visit this nice little place. (About 40 minutes - non rush hour.) The kids love it, and mom and dad can have a good meal!

I'd like to see this place stay open so it will be there when we make the trip!
