Rice Ave. is a fairly new Thai (about 1 mo.) on Roosevelt ave, bet. 72 and 73 (by the BQE).
Decor: very nice! modern, yet comfortable. Sleek white chairs, "grass" on the tables and around the room, nice cherrywood winscotting.
Service: Excellent - helpful and courteous. 2 of the 4 owners were there, very pleasant and talkative. One, was very proud of their write-ups in NY Mag, he actually whipped the mag out! Great people.
Food: Very good to excellent all around. Nice sized menu with a variety of curries, noodles, fried rice, etc. Curry puffs were excellent - right amount of curry and potato (about $4, I think). Tom Hum soup ($3) - very nice, refreshing mix of lemongrass, lime juice and spice - great with shrimp. Laab (is that right) with chicken (wife not like beef too much) was VERY tasty - great mix of mint, citrus with a wonderful amount of "heat." ($6) Pad thai ($6) was very good - some of the best I've had. Jungle Curry Chicken ($6) - a bit on the watery side for my taste, but overall taste, texture and A VERY GOOD amount of heat made up for it.
We didn't have dessert, but I recall Mango with rice, fried ice cream, 4 flavors of ice cream, and a coupld more choices (all in the $4 range).
Overall, very good place, and I hope it does well. There were only 6 other people in the place when I went, but some people came in to pick-up and he said it gets busy Fri - Sun.
I'd advise a visit, very good.
