Randy's Sanwiches in Monterey

We had lunch today at Randy's, and it was well worth searching out. The sandwiches are not only cheap ($4) and enormous, but also very, very good. He also serves breakfast and has a daily special. Today it was spaghetti and meatballs. One of the other customers told us to come on Tuesday for the curry. He had a special Shrimp and Salmon Salad sandwich today.

The sandwiches come on a long well-stuffed sesame seed roll, not as firm as I would like, but still good. We had the Godfather, which was an Italian cold cut and provolone cheese with lettuce tomatoes, and onions, sprinkled with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Next time I'll ask him to add some jalapenos to it. It was really good. It reminded me of the subs I used to get back in Boston.

We also had the Combination Sandwich, which was Italian Beef and Hot Italian Sausage with your choice of sweet or hot peppers. It was also quite good. The Italian Beef was the real thing a tangy tomato sauce, and the sausages were tasty and pretty hot, too hot for Bonni.

The place is tiny with only one table, and a picnic table outside accross the street. Most of the crowd that snakes out the door and down the sidewalk at lunchtime takes theirs to go.
