Pueblito Viejo
5429 N Lincoln
Chicago, IL

Colombian restaurant with one of the oddest interiors I have ever seen. Every inch of the place is covered in plastic flowers and there are plasticized trees growing out of the park bench style tables. The really odd thing is that, somehow, it all works. Waiters are in 'costume', but the food is good, especially the arepas and empanadas. Reasonably priced daily specials and some of the best fried chicken I have ever had. Good table salsa as well.

Carnitas El Paisa
3529 W Fullerton
Chicago, Il

Best carnitas I have had in Chicago, full of flavor, juicy, every part of the pig, including offal available, the young lady gave me a small taste of snout, and fantastic, yes fantastic, chicharron. Home made tortillas and two kinds of salsa. Very friendly service in the form of co-owner and owner's daughter Dalila. Eat in as well as take out.
(Vital Info recommended)

Fiesta Magica
4124 W Armitage

Very good flame grilled steak tacos w/home made tortillas. I also had de flor de calabaza, which I thought tasted canned. Friendly service, reasonably priced and very good steak tacos. (RST recommended)

Happy Kitchen
4706 W Touhy
Lincolnwood, IL

Take out Korean with two tables for waiting or the occasional eat-in. Korean standards, freshly prepared and very inexpensive. Good spot to pick up a quick lunch. In the same strip mall as New York bagels and bialys and Fannie's Deli.

Sweet Table by Feliz

Sweet Table is in the same strip mall as Happy Kitchen, Fannie's and NY Bagel and Bialy's. I am not all that keen on Sweet Table, it seems to have aspirations to upscale, but, to me, the products look better than they taste.

Cooking Fools
1916 W North Ave
Chicago, Il

Upscale take out and pantry items. Some cheese, but mainly prepared food. Both Rob and I thought the ice cream was quite good, he bought some to take home. Counter person was very helpful, I think it was one of the owners.

Good Bowl
5800 N Lincoln Ave
Chicago, IL

Modest Korean run place with ok Korean homestyle and Vietnamese. Best bet at Good Bowl is the Pho, lighter broth than most places on Argyle. A good alternative if in the area with a Pho craving and not in the mood to drive.
