I just did a search to see if anyone else had anything to say about Pica's. Nothing. So, I'll effuse.
I know it's not new, it's not chic, but by damn, they're great. Every time we go I wonder why we don't go more often. Okay, so it's a bit of a hike for us, but the pizza has a cult following (for good reason!), the service is kick-ass, and they fall over themselves to be nice and accomodating to my toddler. They have decent wines there that are not too marked up.
The pizza, for people not yet indoctrinated, has the crust on the bottom, then the cheese, then the sauce on top. This way the crust doesn't get soggy. You have to order the pizza square, according to my friends in the know, although truthfully I don't know why. We also generally get the antipasta, which is fun. My mom says that they were know for years (think '60s, '70s) for their homemade fresh pasta, which I have never tried.
Oh, and did I say the pizza was good? The pizza is great!
