As the closer to a tasty but surprisingly pricey meal (chicken kofta and rice; assorted appetizers) at the Persian Grill in Whitemarsh, the waiter brought a small dish of a cardamom flavored halvah. Unlike the heavy and oily halvah I'm used to (think Joyva brand), this was light and fluffy - almost like cotton candy, but more shard-like, less flossy.
It was wonderful and unlike any halvah I've ever tried! Is this typical of Persian (Irani) halvah? If I go into an arab food market and ask for Persian halvah, will I get this again?
Any ideas where I could buy some in the Philly area, or online?
