We're regulars here. Great Korean BBQ meets comfortable surroundings meets one more bottle of soju, please.
Noticed a few changes:
1. They now offer combo orders, the sort commonly found in cheaper
BBQ joints. A good value for bigger groups. Carnivoria!
2. A la carte meat orders now include miso soup. Not the more pungent
den jang chigae, but rather smacking of instant Japanese stuff. Blech.
3. Maybe this is not a permanent change, but we got twice as much
charcoal stuffed under our grill on this last visit. Great smoky flavor,
huge plume-shaft of smoke wafting, glowing embers dancing
dangerously close to our sweaters. Very Soot Bull Jeep-ish.
Not a change, but bears mention. Ordered the nakji bokum (stir-fried octopus) off the appetizer menu (which is a misnomer---"appetizer" portions are humongous, and arrive in the middle of the meal).
Holy smokes, was this stuff delicious. Trembling, melting baby cephalopods, alongside cooked-to-just-wilting green onions and button mushrooms bursting with juice. All awash in blazing orange, sweat-inducing spiciness. Served on a sizzling platter, the longer it sat and melded, the better it got. Pass the Tums, please.
