The Imam Fainted is the name of a gutsy and fresh Middle Eastern appetizer: small eggplant grilled and split, covered with tomato, onion, lemon and splodges of Greek yogurt and feta. I'm not surprised he had to be revived! With this we had a lamb burger served pink as requested, wrapped in a fluffy pita with spices, cumin sour cream, and a roasted tomato-- a well integrated and yummy dish. Finale was an avocado, onion and orange salad, with a peppery vinaigrette with lots of fresh marjoram.
I don't know who Donna has working there as chef, but they are really talented with flavors, and have a good understanding of other cultures. This collection was way above what I usually expect in Baltimore. Don't compare Cross Keys to Donna's other places: while the service varies (this time was very good), Cross Keys is a serious restaurant for food lovers, with, for me, the bonus of also being informal. Wines and beers are well chosen too
