Two of us had dinner at Helmand Sat 12/10. It's a very good restaurant which hasn't gotten much mention on the board recently. They are also in the Entertainment Book so we totally scored cuz we got one free entree!

After ordering you get free naan w/ three sauces: yogurt, chutney, and a red, little spicy, tangy sauce. Refill on naan no problem.

We had Banjan for appetizers: pan-fried eggplant seasoned w/ spices, then baked w/ fresh tomatoes, served on yogurt garlic mint sauce. $4.95 Good.

Side dish of Sabzi-spinach sauteed w/ onions, garlic, salt and black pepper $4.95. B. said it tasted like fresh spinach, I thought it was average. ok.

Entrees:
Seekh Kabab: char-broiled leg of lamb marinated in puree of onion, sun-dried baby grapes and garlic, served w/ sauteed eggplant and pallow rice $13.95 Very good tender lamb. Good.

Theeka Kabab: prime rib of beef, marinated in puree of onion, sun-dried baby grapes and garlic, then grilled and served w/ sauteed lentils and pallow rice. $14.95
Very good beef, juicy, and very tender. Great.

Would go back again. Maybe next time will make reservation since we just showed up around 6:30pm and had to wait a bit, the waitress said someone didn't show up for the RSVP so we got their table. score.

Total before coupon was around $40 before tip. We got out of there w/ coupon, tip, tax $33.91!
