My partner is jonesin for a big thick burger, one not made on our own grill or in our cast iron skillet. We went to Stanich's on Sat. but it was like sitting in an ashtray. And the burger, while I thought it tasted OK, was not a thick juicy specimen at all. The fries were really good, though.
I am not looking for a $10+ gourmet burger experience at a fancy restaurant, either. You can take the partner out, but you can't dress her up so we won't be going to Higgins or Cafe Castagna. I'm looking for joints that make a great burger. Great fries, onion rings and shakes to go with are a big bonus!
The McMenamin's empire makes a decent burger but we are looking for better and others. County Cork, a pub on NE Fremont around 12th I seem to remember making a good burger (although partner had meat loaf last time we were there and awesome mashed spuds)...am I remembering that right?
Hunter, we almost went to the Skyline on Sat. instead of Stanich's (I wished we had). What is the burger like? What's the word on the Giant Drive-In in Lake Oswego? A friend mentioned it and said it had good burgers and shakes...true or not? Thick burgers?
