Finally made it to Great Bay on Saturday night. Started off with a perfectly made Cosmo. The server brought out rolls which were great -soft and yeasty with a little kosher salt sprinkled on top. Shared the calamari app with my honey which they brought out split between two plates (nice touch) Both servings were of a substantial size. Calamari was fried well-a little on the greasy side-like they ha stood around a tad too long. They were served with greens and some sort of tartar style sauce. A good solid dish but nothing above the norm.
Our meals took awhile to arrive so they brought out some complimentary beef tacos-which were infused with a good smoky flavor. We all loved them.
Moved on to a glass of $10 NV champagne (Lois Boillot) which was very acidic-I should have stuck with the Cosmos.
For my entree I had the Dayboat Scallops. Large scallops cooked to perfection. They were served in a light broth with artchokes and some other vegetables. The vegetables and broth were utterly tasteless. I would assume they didn't want to interfere with the delicate flavor and textures of the scallops but I would have almost preferred to have the scallops solo as the lack of flavor brought the whole dish down a notch.
Service was great. Food was just good. (The room was fun but freezing) I would choose B&G Oysters any day over Great BAY.
