Good food near Aiken, SC

For those who are driving near Aiken, SC, make a short detour to downtown Blackville to dine at Miller's Bread Basket. Run by a Mennonite family, it offers a buffet-style serving line (the employees dish the food) with some of the best home cooking available. Great country veggies (broccoli/rice casserole, steamed cabbage, corn on the cob, and superb mashed potatoes and gravy) and several types of homemade bread- definitely try the cheddar cheese bread. If you make it to dessert, the pies will not disappoint. A small gift shop, adjacent to restaurant, sells homemade bread (try the apple cinnamon) and jams (blueberry is excellent.)Believe they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.
MILLER'S BREAD BASKET, 322 Main St, Blackville, 803-284-3117.
