Dumpling House in Temple City, I must be missing something.

Well what a huge disapointment! After waiting months to finally get to the area and being able to choose only one place I picked the wrong one.
They were very nice and the place was very clean, the food was so below what I was expecting.
We ordered the steamed pork dumplings, they were huge and doughy, not much filling, like a big bite of dough, what filling there was was nice but way to doughy and I was looking foreward to the "chewiness".
The fish dumplings, hmmm they tasted like manicotti,I could have gotten them at Mama Petrillo's! and again, much to much dough for the filling.
On to the noodles and brown sauce, they had ZERO flavour, I wanted to load on the soy sauce but was afraid they would throw something at me so we just left it at that.
The green onion pancake was a mess, I ordered two thinking after what I read about them I would need at least two, they were very similar to a thick tortilla, a flour tortilla with a tiny bit of green onion and loads of oil, again, no flavour, they were nice to dip into the dipping sauce I made out of the chili sauce, vinegar and soy though.
My son ordered the best thing we got, that was shrimp in lobster sauce, it was buttery and delicate and wonderful, I don't think I have ever had better broccoli, we all kept stealing his food, the soup that came with it got mixed reviews, some liked it, I did not, and did not care for the fried rice either that he ordered with it.
The orange at dessert was good and my Diet Coke was cold and refreshing, the tea was nice.
Service they get an A, very hospitible and friendly.
Food C-, I would never go back again.
I grew up in the SGV and we moved very far away and were to be there only one afternoon, I deeply regret my choice.
