Dinners - Ching Ki Wa & Independent

Tried Chung Ki Wa in Medford Sq this weekend. My husband had the grilled mackerel dinner - v substantial portion & they brought us 6 small appetizer plates (oshitashi, yes?). Very tasty kimchee, and also an egg one that I'd never seen before. He liked the fish. I had sushi, but was not as pleased. Their spicy tuna roll was the kind with the fish chopped up & blended w/ the mayo. Also tried an Alaska roll w/ avocado, salmon roe & salmon on the outside.

Nice atmosphere & friendly service - lots of Korean clientele. If we went go back, we'll stick to the Korean dishes.

Last weekend we had another great meal at the Independent. A fried had the Kobe steak and was very impressed. I had the seared salmon w/ a lush mushroom risotto. My husband had the bluefish which came w/ wonderful greens. They split the pot de chocolate for dessert. Husband also had a terrific pumpkin soup. I enjoyed an unusual gin & pomegranate drink.
