Di Notto: Old Town italian dining notes

Recently had nice lunch at DiNotto on North just west of Wells. Tasting notes follow:

Bread: garlic/ rosemary bread served with herbed butter... very nice.

Grilled calamari: This was just superb. Best I've had in long time. Great plump pieces served with a tomato "chili sauce", olive oil, lemon and parsley. Can't overemphasize how well this was prepared.

Ravioli Basilico with Goat Cheese: a Rich tomato, spinach and roasted-garlic sauce.... just delicious. BUT would have perhaps been even better as a wine match if the kitchen had prepared this with a cream sauce rather than tomato. Would have been out of this world with a chardonnay in that case. But still fantastic.

Tiramisu: Very worthwhile. Substantial, not "airy" consistency. No annoying "cocoa cloud" on the top. Creamy mascarpone shines. Very nice.

Overall highly satisfying meal. Just out-shines nearby Orso's and Topo Gigio, IMO.
