Oddly enough, I am having great difficulty getting a good answer to this question. I was therefore thrilled when I picked up the 7/12/00 NY Times and there was an article about ChowHound with this quote from founder Jim Leff: "I just love being able to say,
Listen, I'm going to Baltimore; where's the real place for crab? - You'll get the guys who've tried all 95 crab places and really, really know."
But guess what. That question has yet to be answered on this site. True, one person praised Obrycki's during a commentary on Little Italy, and another disagreed and countered with Gunnings, but that is about it.
So is this a case of, they are all the same and it does not matter, or are there real differences in crab houses? I will be in Baltimore in early August and would like to try three or four such places. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
