Just made a day trip to Burlington to, among other things, have dinner at Bove's. Heartsick to see that it was closed for the holidays until Jan. 6. Was directed to Cannon's on North Ave.
Starters - grilled portabellas with smoked mozzerella and roasted peppers with a balsamic reduction and an "olive medley" with tiny nicoise olives, kalamattas, cracked green Greeks, pickled garlic cloves and homemade preserved lemon. Both outstanding!
(Does anyone have a good recipe for preserved lemons, by the way?)
Three pasta dishes for lunch all outstanding, particularly the rigatoni fromagia - creamy, smokey sauce was outstanding.
Good homemade bread with lunch. Perfect dipped in the oil from the olives. Owner was a perfect host - everything was great. Restaurant is totally unassuming from the outside, located in an anonymous little strip mall. Definite recomendation.
