With not a lot of time for dinner before a concert at Carnegie Hall, my husband and I were kind of at a loss. Then I remembered reading the postings here about The Burger Joint and dragged him into the Parker Meridian. He was a bit skeptical but, after 34 years, has come to trust most of my culinary choices. Or maybe he was just humoring me. Whatever...
You could tell by the enticing smell of meat on a charcoal grill wafting through the lobby that we were getting close to the right place, but we still had to search for the little neon sign near the velvet curtain. I grabbed a couple of seats at the counter while he stood in line and put in our order. We were both blown away by the burgers - hand-formed burgers, cooked to order and dressed with crisp, iceberg lettuce, thinly-sliced onions, mayo, mustard and ketchup - in my opinion, far superior to those at the Shake Shack.
So thanks, NYC 'hounds, for steering us to this wonderful place!
