Looks like Flay is going to open two places at Mohegan Sun. A budget place in the Old Casino
Mohegan - Bobby Flay, the celebrity chef, author and TV personality, will open two new restaurants at Mohegan Sun this summer, the casino announced Wednesday.
Bobby's Burger Palace, offering burgers inspired by Flay's travels throughout the country, will open in the Casino of the Earth, where it will join the existing Birches and Frank Pepe's, the famed New Haven pizzeria, which also is scheduled to open in the summer, as well as some “quick-serve options” that will be announced early next year, Jeffrey Hartmann, the Sun's executive vice president and chief operating officer, said.
The second Flay restaurant, Bar Americain, will open in the Casino of the Sky, where it will replace Fidelia's just outside the casino hotel lobby.
”They'll bring a lot of energy to the property,” Hartmann said. “We think Bobby's Burger Palace will re-energize the Casino of the Earth, which we'll relaunch with the opening of the Winter Entrance.”
The Winter Entrance has been closed since construction began on Project Horizon, the expansion project halted in September after the opening of the Casino of the Wind.
The Flay restaurants will be jointly owned by Flay and the casino, Hartmann said.
”The great thing is that we'll have food at all price points,” he said. “We'll have Bobby's Burgers and Birches in the mid-price range, and Bar Americain, Tuscany and Michael Jordan's restaurants at the upper end.”
Flay opened his first Burger Palace on Long Island in July and a second one in New Jersey this month. He opened a Bar Americain in New York in 2005.
