Bistro 45 - Well Worth It

Six of us went to Bistro 45 on Mentor in Pasadena last night for my friend's birthday. Loved the decor. We were seated on arrival. We were a little early but it gave me and my wife a chance to peruse the menu. Five of us had appetizers, all of which were wonderful. I had there special of the day, a ceviche wrapped in a crispy tuille made up of rock shrimp, squid, lobster and scallops. Had that with a nice glass of house Chardonnay. Main courses were Diver boat scallops, the house's signature pork loin, two orders of Aussie Rack of Lamb and the tempura halibut with a tomato risotto. We had brought our own red wine (1974 Phelp's Insignia and a magnum of 1985 Phelp's Insignia Auction reserve). Great wines went well with great foods. There were two desserts and two cheese plates, a couple of coffees. Bill, including tax and tip came to an average of $67.50 per person and well worth every penny of it. Service was excellent but not intrusive. I highly recommend this place expecially for special occasions.
