I'm going to be in the Austin area for a week starting this Friday; leading a group of four on a "honky-tonk and BBQ tour". Chowhound has been a major source for ideas, with the following list as my current target:
Louie Mueller - Taylor
Kreuz, Black's, and Smitty's - Lockhart
Southside Market - Elgin
Cooper's - Llano
City Market - Luling (not sure I'll get that far south)
(For those who care, music venues I plan to visit are Broken Spoke, Jovita's, Ginny's Little Longhorn, Continental Club, Gruene Hall.)
For planning purposes, which of the BBQ places listed are open at dinner time--say 6 to 7 at night? From reading here, I gather that Louie Mueller and Smitty's should be visited by around noon. Are there others that I have to be sure to visit for lunch rather than dinner?
