So, at College and Yonge today, and at a loss for a quick bite. I walked up to a new joint, Arre Burrito, at the corner of Yonge and Maitland. Now, I claim no expertise in the Great Burrito Debate, but I'll describe what I had, and you can tell me whether this sounded good. I ordered the burrito puebla (chicken mole). While I waited, the very pleasant woman brought me corn chips and a smooth, sharply but nicely flavoured salsa - hot, but with discernable flavours. The burrito arrived sided by a 'salad' of shredded iceberg lettuce, and a few pieces of tomato and cucmber, dressed with a cream dressing that was surprisingly sweet, but not bad. It also came with more of the same salsa. The burrito was veg-heavy, but tasty. The chicken mole wasn't hugely plentiful, but it tasted good, and was very moist. Also in the burrito were rice with corn, beans, lettuce, guacamole, and cream cheese. It needed more of the salsa to pick it up, but I'd rather have the option of spicing it up rather than it coming pre-piquanted (OK, not a verb). It was tightly constructed, held together throughout. I'd guess that it was about 400g. My only complain was that the guac and the sour cream were not evenly distributed through the burrito, but that's a minor cavile.
That, an ice tea, tax and tip was $12.50.
The place is rather bare-bones, very clean, liquor license pending.
So, I was happy, as an ignorant, unburritoed soul. Does that sound like a good burrito? Has anyone with a more intimate knowledge of burritos visited Arre Burrito, and if so, what did you think?
