Hi. We'll be in your town next week for six days. We won't have access to a car but not afraid to take the subway. We also love walking quite a bit -- would be able to probably walk 10+ km a day. Our hotel is the Marriot Courtyard.
Here's my proposed itneary so far. I'd like to keep it inexpensive for the most part but would want to splurge for about 2 meals. Peameal sandwich and smoked artic char at the Carousel Bakery, Pho Hung, Montreal bagels at Kettleman's, Jaime Kennedy's wine bar, eggplant and chicken sandwich at Mustacchio's, roasted marshmallow ice cream at Greg's, Baro Gun Bang, Ethiopia House, Salad King, and Pomegranate. For the splurges, we were considering North 44 for dinner and Chiado.
I'm interested in foods that may be difficult to obtain in NYC. I'd certainly like to do poutine as that can be difficult to find in New York. Is Jaime Kennedy's poutine worth it, or am I better going to the chip trucks? New York isn't really known for Portugese. I'd like some opinions on Chiado as well. We'd also like to venture out to Greektown and see how it compares to Astoria. I would appreciate any restaurant recommendations.
Are there any restaurants in my itinerary that aren't worth going to? Should I go to Susur instead of North 44? North 44 seemed to have a much more interesting menu. We have such a limited time and want to make every meal count.
Thanks so much!
