Hemingway Would Be First in Line

He’d likely be stunned by how little the dollar gets these days, but Hemingway would probably still be bellying up to the bar—Harry’s Bar, that is. The famed Venice eatery and former Hemingway haunt is offering menu discounts to “poor” Americans suffering the effect of their now weak currency.

According to a Reuters article, a sign posted outside the restaurant this weekend reads “Harry’s Bar of Venice, in an effort to make the American victims of subprime loans happier, has decided to give them a special 20 percent discount on all items of the menu during the short term of their recovery.”

But wait—the discount is only for food, not booze.

Forget it; Hemingway would have been in the cheap dive down the street.
