Friday 6/6/08 - Celebrate National Doughnut Day with free donuts
According to Krispy Kreme, one of the donut shops giving out a free donut of your choice Friday ....
"National Doughnut Day was established in 1938 by the Chicago Salvation Army to raise funds during the Great Depression and to honor the work of World War I Salvation Army volunteers who prepared doughnuts for thousands of soldiers."

In the name of cross-border solidarity, I will make a point of buying and eating a doughnut tomorrow at our local Timmy Ho's :-). Maybe this idea will catch on in Canada if enough of us participate. God knows every day could be doughnut day in southern Ontario, where I suspect they have the highest per capita consumption of the round delicacies!
