pretzel bread at Almondine (DUMBO)
At quick glance, the pretzel rolls/bread look like a prehistoric dinosaur or crazy reptile with a ridge of sharp peaks. It's the size of a demi baguette and looks so very appealing. I went for the pretzel and cheese bread instead. Soft chewy texture, real pretzel flavor and nice salt.
YUM! Can't wait to try these again and they'll definitely be a highlight of my next party.

TBird: I had it several times and it is very very good. However I think they have changed the way they make it slightly, maybe more cheese. I have not ordered it in a while and it looks like it has a different texture.

finally had it this morning nyjewboy. if they are putting more cheese now than before, i would have hated to see it before. that said, the pretzel bread was very good. i would have liked to see more cheese tho. but definately good, and the pretzel bread could easily stand alone.

Mmm, thanks for this - I seriously had a dream about pretzel bread last night (I wanted to make some in the dream but had to go to the store for "pretzel bread flour" first - ha). I might have to hike over to Almondine soon...

I totally agree. There is also a version without cheese. It is very addicting. I bought it for a playdate at my house. The kids wouldn't eat the one with the cheese, so I had to eat it.

I'm partial to the non-cheese version. it's very tasty! As an aside-if you are even in almondine and see that they have jelly donuts, definitely try one. they are amazing!

I did try the jelly donut and it went in the trash. Seemed stale and the filling was a big *yawn*. Otherwise, I'm a fan of almondine. Nicely done croissants and baguettes.
