Michael Schlow to Open New Restaurant in Seaport District
Not sure if anyone mentioned this yet, but Michael Schlow, who runs Great Bay, Radius, Via Matta, and Alta Strada, is opening a new restaurant at the new Marriott Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel in the Seaport District next month. It will be located at the intersection of Congress Street and D Street.
The hotel itself looks to be really nice, with unique modern styling and great views of the harbor. The restaurant sounds interesting, too, as it will have a chef's communal table and an exhibition kitchen, as well as outdoor dining.

I thought I read somewhere that Schlow had divested his interest in Radius, was effectively only a masthead presence there now. Can anyone confirm?
I certainly think the place is way past its prime, not at all worth what they charge there. (At least the Phantom Waver has moved on.)

If it is anything like AltaStrada, too bad. I know he was planning to expand his "Alta Strada concept" [whatever that is- very ordinary food and some not even that].

The Renaissance project is a 'contract gig' - alla K Oringer doing La Verdad for the Lyons Group. Not sure what the concept is, but T Hill from the Eldridge Room and Fireplace is supposed to be running the kitchen.
As to Radius, there are always rumors that Schlow and Myers are splitting up - but it does not seem to have happened yet. P Connolley at Radius is still doing more interesting food than his past few predecessors...though whether or not it is worth the price is up for debate.

Agree on the Alta Strada assessment above. It's an embarrassment. An over-priced embarrassment.
