New Head Chef at Toro?
Went to Toro last night and noticed on the menu that there was a new head chef - not the usual head chef John Critchley. Anyone know where he went?

John and his new wife have unfortunately moved to Hawaii

Good time of year to move to HI...
Do you happen to know when John was last cooking at Toro? I had a terrific dinner there quite recently and noticed no discernible drop in quality.

Thanks for the response, but no thanks for the news! That's really a loss for the boston chow scene, but fortunately the food was still excellent. I did feel, however, that the specials and one of the new dishes we had, while really tasty, didn't quite live up to the previous highs we had experienced there. Bummer.

I,too, was there just last night. Everything was great. Enjoyed some of the newer menu options. My DC was devastated that the tripe is off the menu. No loss to me! Steak a la Plancha was great. I always enjoy the Chopped Salad and the Bacalao Fritters. We got there very early so had fabulous service! I still enjoy this spot every time!!
