I know Alice Waters is not going to be there. I just saw her speak at Borders on Mich. Avenue. There were only about 20 people there. I was surprised, she seemed surprised also but was really gracious about answering everyone's questions before signing her new cookbook. Anyway, she said she was invited but can't go.

Things to Do
1. Figure out a way to be at Charlie Trotter’s (816 W. Armitage Ave.; 773-248-6228) awesome-sounding $5,000 all-star dinner on October 7th, which will feature courses by Ferran Adrià, Thomas Keller, Daniel Boulud, Heston Blumenthal, and other masters, including Trotter himself. Eighty lucky guests will pony up the money, which goes to The Charlie Trotter Culinary Education Foundation. Call 773-248-8949, ext. 30, and blow the kid’s college fund. Your belly will forgive you.

Nope. Not unless you have the $5000.
Here's a tip though: He's hosting a dinner at Schwa tonight (Saturday), for him and 22 of his closest, um, friends, like Ruth Reichl and Thomas Keller.
Maybe go stand outside and beg? Beware, the kitchen staff are vicious.
