Brooklyn CSA's - suggestions?
Very excited to join a CSA (community supported agriculture) this summer. I am close enough to 3 pick up points...
-Cobble Hill
-Ft. Greene
-Park Slope
Any reason I should pick one over the other?

I can't comment on the ones that you listed, but thought you might like to know that there is also one in Carroll Gardens, with pick-up Sat. afternoons at the transit garden. We are doing it for the 2nd yr. this yr. and are happy with it. We belonged to the Hell's Kitchen CSA when we lived in Manhattan before moving to Bklyn & prefer our current CSA.

For what it's worth, Park Slope and Clinton Hill CSAs partner with the same farm, so you can't distinguish between them on that basis. I belonged for two years, and found the quality to be excellent.

Maybe you're thinking of the Kensington one? Here is info for that. I was thinking of joining. It is new this year, but the farm that supplies it also supplies some other Brooklyn CSAs.

I have belonged to the CSA in Williamsburg for four years now I think - we currently have Garden of Eve and I want to vouch for them. According to the Just Food website at least one of your locations uses Garden of Eve. They have a very good selection, alot of choice, e.g. half shares, egg share, fruit, flowers etc. I've been very happy with them.

I've been a member of the Cobble Hill and the Park Slope CSA in the past, and much much much much much much much much preferred the Cobble Hill. It was light years better: more variety, better quality, even a better place to pick up (not that I didn't like the garden, but since the church was enclosed it was a better shift to work if it rained or was really hot that day). Farmer Bill also includes fruit when he has it, so you would get strawberries, rhubarb, watermelon and canteloupes even if you don't sign up for a fruit share.

If you consider yourself close enough to those three, you might also be interested in the new DUMBO / Vinegar Hill CSA that's starting this year (see map). I was a member of the Williamsburg CSA last year and it was great (Garden of Eve is really an amazing farm). But I'm moving to DUMBO, where there wasn't an existing CSA. So, I met up with some others there who are starting one. It's going to be Sang Lee Farms' first CSA in the city. We met them last week for the first time, and I'm really excited about all the varieties of vegetables they grow: stuff like the little yellow watermelons, five different varieties of beets, etc. They'll be visiting again on April 8th if you want to check them out.
