Dinner at Nick's on Broadway

Has anyone had dinner yet at Nick's on Broadway since they switched locations and expanded their dinner service to Wed-Sat? I've been to brunch since they moved (eggs benedict with grilled duck breast & a pear bellini---whoa nelly!) and keep planning to go to dinner but then forgetting. If so, can you describe? Thanks!

  1. No details but a coworker went (w/her husband and another couple) and said it was very good. I had lunch there today, and while waiting for my omelet, I saw the most AMAZING looking french toast come off the grill. I was kicking myself for not ordering that instead.

i know! the french toast looks ridiculous. i went with a friend and we took about fifteen minutes to order, trying to decide between savory/sweet for brunch....and then we saw a couple next to us who had ordered savory meals, but also the french toast as a sort of shared dessert, and kicked ourselves for not thinking of it too!

    2. This place sounds really interesting.......where is it (town, state)?

      1. *sigh* The savory/sweet dilemma at breakfast or brunch. I have a friend who understands that and we sometimes will split a 3rd (sweet) meal.

Science Chick, it's on Broadway in Providence, RI. The full name is Nick's on Broadway. Closed Mon & Tuesday.

          THANKS!

re: the sweet vs. savory dlilema....the BF and I always order one of each and share...we usually ask them to bring the sweet a little after the savory so it will be a "dessert"...

        2. We live in the neighborhood, and are regulars for breakfast. We just recently tried out the dinner service, and it was divine. I had a yellowfin tuna over parsnip/potato puree with a sage jus. It was outrageously good. Hubby had a gnocchi with scallops and hot chili sauce that was also out of this world. We split a cheese plate app and had a half bottle of wine. The bill came out to somewhere around $90 with tip. I highly recommend!

          1. Does anyone know what the new address is? I know it's on Broadway, but near what cross street?

I don't know if Google is correct, given they've moved (presumably, from one place to another on Broadway)...

            1. re: Keithel

i believe the number is 500 Broadway, on the corner of Broadway and Tobey.

                Thanks!

            2. I've been to both places on Broadway. Definetely the charm of the original is gone. Before Nick would pretty much take care of it all and most of the time you had a great meal for a great price with great ambiance. Now however prices have gone up, meals are made by a variety of chefs and services is definetely gone down.
This morning I went for breakfast and found a HAIR in my potatoes... It wasn't a big deal for me, but when I addressed it with the manager... well it ruined my breakfast.

Nick hasn't been involved in Nick's in many years, he was an old man. Derek is the owner, chef and the one you probably are referring to as Nick. As of a month or so ago, I hadn't noticed any increase in the prices at all-Nick's was never all that cheap if you went for anything beyond basics.

The breakfast consistency may have slipped a touch as they've hired more chefs, I go a little less often these days, so I'm not sure. While I do agree that it's less charming, but it in infinitely more comfortable.
