Seabose in Carrollton. If anyone goes plaese give us feedback.
A Japanese customer of mine told me about this place. She raves about it and told me they get fresh fish flown in twice a week. I believe she said Tuesdays and Fridays.

Seabose is the world's best shop with the world's freshest fish! I swear, it just melts in your mouth. I love going there. It takes a lot of gasoline and time on my part, but it is worth it. The first time I went, the girl working was EXTREMELY nice. I think her name was Yukiko. I can't wait to go back...
(when i first went, i found a can of inarizushi no moto for 99 cents. 99 cents!!! i bought it, and when i asked about it next time he said it was a one time thing because they were going to stop selling the cans. too bad! i was so happy! haha)

Seabose is a small grocery store w/ limited offerings in the dry food category (think convenience store offerings of popular bagged and boxed items) w/ a small selection of produce and seafood. For what they lack in size they make up w/ quality. I saw some beautiful pieces of sashimi quality tuna and grouper. The sushi I had for lunch was certainly well worth the money I paid. 1 piece of tuna toro for $2.00!!! Seabose is certainly worth a visit for lunchtime sushi. FYI, they don't have a dining area and they receive their fish on Tuesdays and Fridays.

I'm glad you liked it! I die for their inarizushi and salmon sushi. I was just floored to get sushi as good as my hawaiian family makes... for .75c - $2.00! I really have to go back there now. :D

The owner has a blog (in Japanese only) where he writes what kind of seafood and veggies they'll recieve the following day.

My understanding is the customers can get the same info by e-mail. The blog says the sushi is $1 every Sun or Mon (it says Sun, but the dates are Mon).

I was in there a couple of days ago. I agree that it is small, but the sushi- is wonderful. I tried a couple pieces, "just to make sure" and after tasting, I will definitely go back. I recommend calling ahead and placing your order for pickup.

TJ's mentioned above flies their fish in fresh every day. Most places are on the Tues and Fri schedule (as are most restaurants). They even made a deal with a purveyor to have fresh fish on Monday. For the most part, the docks are closed on Sun so fresh fish in a landlocked city on Mon is almost impossible but they found someone to fish Sun too. And the lady that runs it is very nice and very knowledgable.

Never order fish or eat sushi in a Dallas restaurant on Monday - you're likely getting Saturdays fish. Never order blackened fish in a restaurant. You always get the oldest fish in the refrigerator. Spices hide the lack of freshness.

Sprouts in Plano also gets fresh fish in every day (except Sunday). And it is going to be waaaaay cheaper than CM or WF and just as good. Just not as big a selection.

Sprouts is a good choice and often has sales. The other choice depending on what you are looking for is seabose, which has great Sashimi quality fish.

Fishmongers in Plano used to be a great place to pick up fresh seafood. Its at Park and Central.

We're very fond of tien tien (or 88 in chinese) in Richardson (Greenville inbetween Beltline and Arapaho). Nice but limited market.
