Happy Hour at Hog Island?
Can someone tell me the hours and days for Happy hour at Hog Island? Also what are the happy hour specials? Aside from oysters, what else is good to order? Any particularly good selections on their wine list? Thanks.

Mondays and Thursdays
Not exactly sure about the time, but I believe it's 4pm to closing (around 8pm).
Sweetwater oysters are $1, other oysters are not discounted for happy hour. Beers are $3, wines are not discounted (to my knowledge).

Actually, it was from 4-6 last time I went a few months ago... i'm not sure if they also do Thursdays, but they definitely do Mondays. Can anyone verify the Thursday claim?

Extract from the Ferry building newsletter in Feb 2005 ... "the Monday and Thursday happy hour specials from 4:30 until 7:00 pm feature $1 a piece oysters with beer priced at $2.50 a pint"

Does Hog Island have raw clams as well?
I'm not a fan of raw oysters (Oakjoan ducks as hundreds of shoes come flying toward her and covers ears from cries of "WHAT? YOU LOW CLASS SCUM WITHOUT TASTE BUDS!")

Their clam "chowder" is great. I didn't care as much for the oyster stew. But that could be explained by the fact that I'm a raw oyster man and rarely enjoy cooked oysters anyway: they have a slightly metallic and rich flavor that I found especially overwhelming in this stew. The grilled cheese sandwich has been highly recommended by several hounds, but I have yet to try it.

I had the grilled cheese sandwich at an affair catered by Hog Island. Unbelievably rich, even though I had just a finger-size slice. It oozed butterfat causing me to leave greasy fingerprints all over the Riedel stemware. (g)

Went today (Thursday) for happy hour and was surprised there was not a long wait. Anyways, Hog Island Sweetwater oysters are $1 each and the other oysters are not discounted. Happy Hr beers are $3.50 (choice of 4 different beers on tap) and there was one Sauvignon Blanc for $5.
