Yes, Mullane's makes a nice juicy burger and a good salad, and prices are very reasonable (which, in this area, is much-needed). It's a good addition to the neighborhood.

Yeah, had a burger yesterday, as a matter of fact. Very nice.
Agree with the previous poster completely -- reasonably priced and a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

burger is pretty tasty and priced at market. two complaints: 1) no lettuce, tomato, or onion with even a plain burger; 2) ketchup comes in a ramekin on the side, and if you ask for more you get... another ramekin. not sure what mullane has against bottles of ketchup, he/she must just like to wash hundreds of 2 ounce ramekins every night instead of refilling ketchup bottles like every other bar.
as for other food, the fish and chips is overpriced for what you get, but nicely crisp and quite tasty. onion rings were big and battered. shepherd's pie is... shepherd's pie. you kind of know what you're getting with that one.
w/t/r overall environment, it's a bit too fancy for a sports bar. there aren't enough bar stools and the tvs are in sidebar-mode, which is a waste of a flatscreen tv. once this place works out the kinks, it will be a decent addition to the neighborhood, if not so well-integrated. here's to hoping that smoke joint and 67 burger (burger 67?) are more neighborhoody and less austere.

walter -i totally agree with you about the ketchup thing. it's absurd! i also think it's cruel joke on the waitstaff considering the kitchen is downstairs. my husdand and i were both eating burgers and fries (both were pretty good, i must say, and exceeded our expectations) and i asked for more ketchup (meaning for both of us) and she brought up one more ramekin. i didn't have the heart to ask her for more.
also regarding service - our waitress was nice (perhaps not the brightest) but seemed very busy and it was hard to get her attention. there were several other servers standing around who saw us but refused to acknowledge or help us. eventually one of them told our waitress we needed her. this really pissed me off and i haven't been back since, even though the burgers were tasty.
they really need to work on the staff, although i would bet it's a lousy place to work and they'll probably have trouble getting good people to stick around.

The burgers at Mullane's are indeed tasty and well-prepared. Agree with the poster who said fish and chips are overpriced, in fact most of the entrees are way more expensive than they're worth. Also I wish the fries weren't so overcooked every time I've been and that they would figure out the problems with keeping Blue Point on tap - they've been "out" every time I've stopped by.
While I'm grateful for another food option in the 'hood, I think this place needs to hire more experienced waitstaff - the servers are friendly and nice but unskilled. Also the music here drives me nuts, last night my family was treated to a medley of Brian Adams and Bon Jovi tunes on their satellite radio station. At least it wasn't the Purple Rain soundtrack like last time.
Will try this place again in a few months to see if it's any different. Interested to see if Burger67 is a better option...

Burger67's burgers (at least the 2 I've had so far) are indeed tasty, but service is a bit slow and disorganized, even at off-peak times. I have to try Mullane's at some point.

We have eaten at Mullane's twice and both times it has been fantastic! I had the chicken wings and a burger the first time. As an original upstate/western new yorker, i can vouch for the authenticity of the buffalo wings - crispy, meaty, spicy and the right amount of tang in the sauce. The burger was done just right and very "homemade", not the premade institutional patty one is normally used to. the second time we ate there I got the wings again and this time I got their signature steak. totally delicious, done right and the sauce was totally delicious. the owner is a great guy. very friendly making the rounds through the restaurant interacting with all the customers - the hallmark of a great neighborhood joint. this is a very welcome addition to the nabe!
