For something different we decided to revisit Zocalo. It has been years since we have dined there.
We discovered that they have changed hands and chefs. Jackie is no longer in the kitchen. All of this did not bode well.
For apps we had the guacamole, roasted veggie salad and a margarita. The margarita was very small and not the potent mix that I remembered. It was just ok.
The guac was fine but lacked any tomatoes or real zip. The salad was excellent.
For entrees my sig had the volcano. A layered concoction of beans, salsa, cheese, chicken and chips. It was really disappointing. The beans tasted canned. Everything else was just fair.
My entree was talapia with a mexican pesto. The talapia was fine but the pesto totally overwhelmed the fish. It came with zucchini and rice. They were fine.
Needless to say we are not planning a return visit. What a shame.
