Zocalo/Cafe Lalo report

Dinner at Zocalo was good. Their homemade guacamole is verey very good, better than most mexican places. The heirloom tomatoes app was so good. Very simple, just slices with some slices of parmesan cheese, olive and baslamic vinegar. Yum. I had the yellowfin tuna medium rare over stewed tomatoes and stringbeans and a side of rice and beans. It was very good, definitely sashima quality tuna. I also had a bite of mahi mahi which I thought was too cooked, but compared to my tuna, it sure was, so who knows if I was objective.

The noise level is louder than I like and on the dark side, but on the whole it was a good meal. Service was just mediocre, they were very crowded, especially the bar. Unfortunately Cafe Lalo was much much louder. I remember reading fellow Hounds recommending other places better than Cafe Lalo in old postings, but I couldn't remember the recs so on to Cafe Lalo we went. The almond tiramisu was not good at all, but the white chocolate mousse pie was much lighter than I expected and pretty good. It had a dark chocolate crust which proved to be a nice contrast.
