Went to the Lakeshore Trader Joe's today to look for a bottle of Zinfandel to serve with dinner tonight and was pleased to see that they're carrying the 2007 Dry Creek Heritage Zinfandel. At $14.99 a bottle, it's not exactly one of TJ's cheaper offerings, but that's still a markdown from the $19 a bottle you'd pay even if you bought it direct from the winery.
Now, I know next to nothing about wine, but the Dry Creek Vineyard is one of my favorite spots to go for tastings in Healdsberg, and I've loved just about every wine of theirs that I've tried, especially their Zins. Always found them to be great bang for the buck.
When I was checking out, the cashier clued me in on a Howell Mountain Zinfandel that they're now selling, also for $14.99 a bottle (retails for $25 to $30, he said). He said if I like the Dry Creek, I'll love those. I'll be looking to check that out next--curious if anyone has a report.
