Zarzuela (Short Report) & How about Esperpento?

Yuko | Sep 22, 2004 07:06 PM

Although the ealier post mentioned that Zarzuela has slipped in recent years, I had to go there and try the dishes on my own.

We ordered:
Jamon Serrano
Gambas al Ajillo
Chorizo
Croquetas
Patatas Bravas
2 pithers of Sangria
We may have ordered one or 2 more dishes after finishing Sangria, but can't remeber... :-)

They were definitely NOT as bad as Patio Espanol, but none of us really liked any particular dishes. Patatas Bravas had a really plain sauce (not even "slightly" spicy). Gambas should have had more garlic. Chorizo tasted bland and actually needed salt!

I guess my quest for a good tapas place continues. I am not a fan of Thirsty Bear because I think their food is not authentic and is overpriced for what you get. A friend recommended Esperpento. I think I was there like 7 years ago. Has anybody gone there recently? Please let me know what you think!
