Do young hens really lay alarming amounts of cheap eggs?

relizabeth | Sep 28, 2008 04:27 AM

So, yesterday at the farmers market, I went to my usual egg man and he was selling 30 eggs for £3 (usually we get 6 medium eggs for £1.90). He said that the young hens lay an erratic number of practice small eggs, and that is why they were so cheap. Hen experts, is this so? We have 30 eggs to consume over the next 2 weeks between the two of us. Yum!
