So I've been asked to make a NYE supper (3 people including myself, so it's a small one) and they jumped at the idea of a gumbo. I've never attempted one, but have located a few good places to track down a shrimp/sausage recipe I'm willing to tackle. Seared scallops are a favorite of one party member, and I was wondering if I could somehow include this as an appetizer? Something like seared scallops on salad? Anything else? Would love some suggestions. As well, I was thinking something light for dessert - marsala poached pears?
