I was in Culver City this afternoon for a change and decided to check out this place. It's a cute little place with a nice front and side patio, some indoor and outdoor tables with cushy pillows. It's cafeteria style, so the food comes pretty fast, but it's an appealing space (and it was lovely weather out today to boot).
Had a seared ahi nicoise salad and a cup of gazpacho soup. The salad was just superb--beautiful little white fingerling potatoes, perfect French green beans, wonderful lettuce, the best little cherry tomatoes, perfectly cooked ahi--a really generous portion for $9. This has to be one of the best ahi nicoise salads I've ever had--maybe the best in fact.
The gazpacho was a small size for $4 but absolutely delicious--filled with finely chopped veggies and lightly blended--so good that I got some to go. Everything else I saw people eating looked incredibly good. If I lived in the neighborhood, I'd probably live there. I sure hope they find a location in Santa Monica when they decide to branch out. As you can tell, I just love this place and can't wait to find an excuse to go back.
