been watching this place come to be for a couple of weeks now, and it finally opened, on the same block as turkish restaurant Hemsin.
billing itself as a Sushi and Noodle Bar, we had planned to eat in, but lack of motivation caused us to order in instead.
based on our first meal, this place is something the neighborhood has needed for quite some time.
for an appetizer, we ordered the Okaka (Bonito flakes) Rice Ball. basically, a center of Bonito flakes, surrounded by sticky rice, wrapped in seaweed. it was delicious, and a couple of these could easily be a light meal.
our main courses were both noodle dishes: Kimchi Men, and Vegetarian Men.
The Vegetarian was very good, with a "clean" taste. it was smooth, and filled with noodles, assorted veggies, seaweed, and tofu.
i loved the Kimchi, which was almost a perfect spice. it perhaps could have used a tad more, but all in all, was yummy. it continued the same kind of thick ramen noodles as the vegetarian, as well as veggies, seaweed, and tofu, but also contained Kimchi (duh!), fish cake, chicken, and a couple of large shrimp (be careful - apparently, the dish was served with the heads detached, but still in the soup - so i pulled up a chopstick full of noodles, and nearly flipped out when these beady little eyes were staring at me from within the noodles! LOL)
we'll probably go back again this weekend to try other things, but so far, we have a winner...
