Wowed by Myth

What a wonderful dinner tonight at Myth. I'll chalk it up as was my reward for having had to endure dinner last night at La Suite (see posting link below).

This was our third dinner at Myth in the past year and easily the best hands down. The first two times, though not perfect, definitely intrigued us enough to make a return visit.

Tonight, we started with what was probably one of the best raw oyster plates ever. I'm not sure what type of oysters they were, but there were juicy and smallish and flavored with a yuzu vinaigrette and topped with tobiko. This was DELICIOUS! So fresh and lively. I almost wish we had another half dozen. Right then we knew this was going to be meal to remember.

We next ordered the Asparagus Salad. We mentioned to our waiter that we would be "sharing" our choices and out came our orders pleasantly split at no extra charge. What a nice touch. We each had two nicely prepared Asparagus Spears with a well-dressed mound of greens adjacent. The Spears had a wonderful dressing with chopped tomatoes, fried pancetta, feta, and I believe some diced citrus (grapefruit possibly?). All those great textures co-mingling was awesome.

Next was a Chilled Corn Soup. So yummy and full of flavor---but luckily not overly rich. Bits of corn and fried bacon with a drizzle of green (didn't catch what exactly) infused oil topped this dish off.

Our main course was the Walu. A Hawaiian fish that had a lemon vinaigrette with a few small mussels and potatoes. Cooked just right so that it was still slightly rare in the middle. Of all the dishes we had, this may have been the least impressive, but still better than 90% of all other fish entrees you would find in a comparable restaurant.

And to top it all off, the house Sorbets (Guava, Strawberry, Coconut) and two small cookies. We were nicely full, but not stuffed.

I can see why this is still at the top of coveted reservations in the City. The entire restaurant interior and overall atmosphere is so relaxing and aesthetically pleasing. All I can say is I can't wait to go back.
