Miraculously found parking in front of Woodstar this morning and popped in to sample. Extremely glad I did.
Can't comment on the coffee, as I am "off" caffeine these days, but it smelled so wonderful I almost wept.
Environment is nice -- roomy, reasonable noise level, mix of people working and socializing. Sidewalk tables not in use this morning, as Hurricane Isabel is flinging her remnants our way.
Not a huge selection of baked goods this morning, but all of them looked great -- fresh and generously portioned.
Am now munching on a gingered pear scone -- not quite the traditional scone texture -- more fluffy and cake-like, but flavor is wonderful. Nice chunks of toothsome pears that seem to have been poached in ginger, rather than chunks of ginger just tossed into the batter (I find that method a little jarring). Just sweet enough to qualify as a breakfast pastry, but not so sweet as to make one feel as though one needed to lie down.
Croissants were as good as I have had in this town -- impeccably fresh, light, buttery, flakey, lightly crisped on tops and bottoms, no wierd doughy chunks anywhere and no overcooked crispies hanging on anywhere.
Very pleasant staff, all around a solid A in my book. Will be back.
