Wonders of New Orleans

Just got back from an upscale ElderHostel in New Orleans. The food in the "name" restaurants we were taken to were kinda mind blowing, but there was one simple dish (!) in an Italian grocery store that needs to be imported to Philly.

Muffaletta's anwhere?

Bread is a different kind of a soft roll; sops up a lot of juice, maybe a tad brioche-like. Meats include mortadella, salami, ham maybe; some cheese. But, it's the olive salad that makes for the unique taste. Take my word for it, this is delicious serious chow. Move over cheese steaks...
