Just had another fantastic dinner at EMP (first time sans grid) and they continue to fire on all cylinders.
I will admit I miss the grid a little but probably only due to being use to it, I'm sure I'll live without it : ). As others have mentioned they do give you the two main protein choices but everything else is unknown (but likes and dislikes are still asked). The entire staff must be very settled in to the "newish" tasting menu format because service and food were flawless, and I mean flawless, not a blip, not a hiccup, nothing. I know EMP always gets high marks on service but in the early days (RE:first day) of the tasting menu format there were some minor hitches but they've had a couple months to fine tune what needed to be fine tuned.
The food continues to shine and there have been enough adjustments to dishes, while retaining some of the new favorites, to make this visit different from the last. One thing I think is new is our Captain, Cody, actually tells you to expect 15 or 16 dishes. And I want to go on record that I cannot believe anyone that says they didn't get enough food, we were extremely full (and we have healthy appetites).
As I said to my GF the one thing that makes dining at EMP tough is as soon as the evening is over I want to do it again right away.
