This "to go" and catering establishment finally opened Saturday and I dropped in a little after 8:00 p.m. last night. Most of the food seems to be straight ahead American food -- crab cakes, roasted vegetables, tuna salad, beef tenderloin, etc.
Key Winstead was there and seemed to be having a heck of a time meeting new customers and feeding them. Samples were flying faster than at a Baskin-Robbins store. Everyone working there was extremely friendly.
I didn't love everything, and perhaps my favorite of the things I sampled was a beef salad. Looks not unlike an eggplant or fish salad of some type -- just great on a sandwich.
Looks like Winstead's doesn't do its own desserts, but they looked great (some are clearly from Sullivan St.), as did the muffins and giant cupcakes and macaroons.
Prices are high.
And they carry Yogurt Place yogurt!
Although it isn't set up completely yet, the plan is to have a "breakfast bar" in the morning and a salad bar after that.
