"Wife" cakes? (lou po beng)

JThur01's thread about mooncakes reminded me that I've been looking for a source of good "wife" cakes (also known as "sweetheart" cakes) in the LA area:

I became addicted to these while living in the UK. Among ethnically Chinese residents in both countries, there's a higher ratio from Hong Kong and surrounding provinces in the UK than there are in LA, so I realize these may not be easy to find around here.

In the meantime, I've found the Taiwanese melon cakes that are available at most local Chinese groceries to be a good cross-addiction, e.g.:

These are sort of like winter melon Fig Newtons.

But it's not the same, and I still crave wife cakes.

EDIT:

There was wife cake thread a few years ago, and I tried some of the places mentioned (JJ Bakery, Cathy's Bakery) but they were a shadow of the ones available in London.
