I have read posts on this board about Whoopie Pies, which brought back fond memories of this delectable treat. In my previous job, many moons ago, my company had offices all around the country. I got to be good friends with a gal that lived in Lancaster, PA. She mentioned W.P.'s in a conversation, to which I laughed at her as I thought she was making the name up! She set me straight & described them in great detail, causing me to make ooo'ing noises over the phone!
But better yet, a package arrived the following week with a dozen of her homebaked Whoopie Pies. They were unbelievable and nuthin from Hostess could hold a candle to their fudginess & cream filling.
I was hard pressed to share them with anybody, as I wanted to hoard the box to myself. I have lost contact with this wonderful lady, but wondered if anyone out there has a good recipe for these 'gone but not forgotten treats'? Appreciate any barkbacks from fellow Chowhounders with a sweet tooth! Thanks alot!
