Why is Western Avenue the Eastern Corridor for food?

It occurred to me only after having separately visited L.A.'s Thai Town, Koreatown and Torrance Japanese and other Asian spots that Western Ave. is the least Western foodie conduit I've seen in this city. Coincidence?

It looks like there's also a Western in Vietnamese-haven Westminster, but that doesn't appear to connect up.

What are your favorite spots in proximity to Western?

Here's a Google map of all the places with the word 'restaurant' and 'western ave.' in their descriptions, in proximity to Western Ave.
